crystal sea salt / A crystal of sea salt

There are trades that measure the degree of culture of a people. And 'this is the case of salt from sea or from the mines, an ancient work that has accompanied the development of our civilization. From the Via Salaria wage: enough to remember these names had the very great importance in social relations and trade in the past.
artisan sea salt products are of high quality but costs much higher than mine, or rock salt. To defend preseve and this kind of work went into the ad hoc consortia in Italy, Sicily, for example, and here in Piran, a small town that faces Slovenia in front of Trieste.
The girl who accompanied me during my visit to these states that salt at all stages of production using only strictly traditional methods. Why does his job with Pride and pleasure ". I show the "fleurs de sal," salt crystals grown on the thin surface of salt ponds. A fine condiment with which you can do everything, even chocolate. Continuing to walk
tells me about the nonnno, born during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, his father, who was born in Italy, she was born in Yugoslavia and his son, born in Slovenia. Yet all came to the world in the same house. Sometimes the cultural identity of a people can be stronger than national ones.

Gay and lesbian, coming on loan tailored

News two days ago: The German bank BHW Bausparkasse, which specializes in mortgages and loans, has decided to import in Italy, the subsidized rate formula - tried and tested with success at home - aimed at gay and lesbian couples looking for a loan to buy a house. Where Italian politics has proved guilty and a inexcusable delay, now is the world of finance. The reasons are not certain of the noblest, given that this is a pure marketing operation (at a time of economic crisis have access to an untapped market, with a large catchment area and in a state monopoly, is certainly a winning move!), but no matter the signal is still strong and important.

In practice, gay and lesbian couples can not only combine their incomes in order to obtain the loan, but also taken advantage of a cut of the spread (I do not think that using big words to throw hard, the fact is that now - despite myself - I became very expert in loans) amounted to 0.15% in the case agree to cointestato home and prove to be entered all'Arcigay (Italy does not yet exist in a civil registry of unmarried couples).

Venezuela: Valentine's bitter

abolished the Valentine's Day in Venezuela. President Hugo Chavez has in fact canceled all celebrations planned for the upcoming Valentine's Day. Despite his reputation as Tombeur de femmes - many are in fact the great achievements that are allocated, for all: Supermodel Naomi Campbell - and passionate man, the President of Venezuela seems to deny his reputation as a romantic man.

Do not think, however, a sudden change of personality. There is indeed a reason: the next February 14 will be called on Venezuelans to the polls to express their opinion on the unlimited re-election public office, including that of head of state. If the referendum is approved, Chavez could stand for election in 2012 for proposing a third consecutive term.

" That day we will not have time for anything, we are preparing the battle " said the President would have to explain this decision. For

not deny, however, his reputation as "unrepentant sentimentalist" and not disappoint the lovers of Venezuela, Chavez has decreed use of the shelters - from February 15 - "love the week." The Latin macho cat no exceptions!

few ideas, but confused

We propose to follow (For those who have the patience) an interview, just days before the election on November 4, Barack Obama, the Councillor of relations with Latin America - Frank Sanchez - former Vice Minister of Transportation under President Clinton.

Several themes addressed, including: revision of NAFTA, trade union rights and paramilitaries in Colombia to fight drug trafficking, relations with Cuba, immigration and the strengthening of democracy, renewable energy and " energy alliance."

On this last point, you can bet, will be played much of the game. Purpose is to reduce U.S. dependence on Middle Eastern oil and limit the influence of Venezuelan petrodollars in the region. Already

me I see Chavez, the "demagogue " , exclaiming: "With cabrón de aquel Bush was mucho mejor! "

Interview with Sanchez, though already dated a few months, and then a document interesting to see what could be the cornerstone of U.S. policy for Latin America in view of the Summit of Trinidad and Tobago (April 17) when Obama met with leaders of 34 countries in the hemisphere, will have to start playing cards, revealing the strategies of his presidency in relations with Latin American neighbors.

Since there is little statements about until now, this is undoubtedly a useful opportunity to clarify a little more ideas ......

Nicaragua and the 2008 municipal elections: the last act? Nun

on January 18 by a vote of the inhabitants of the North Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAN) finally (hopefully) ended the saga of the municipal elections Nicaragua began in November 2008.

For those who missed (many images as the low / no echo that the news had in Italy and Europe) the previous episodes here's a quick summary:

On 9 November, two years after the presidential elections that brought back to power Sandinista Daniel Ortega and the Partido de Liberacion Nacional (FSLN), the Nicaraguan population has been drawn to the polls to express their preference on the government of the 146 municipalities of the country. The elections have determined the absolute victory of the FSLN and the disastrous defeat of the main opposition coalition movement organized around the PLC / VCE (Partido Alianza Liberal Constitucional / Movimiento Vamos with Edward) led by Edward Montealegre. The victory of the Frente overflowing, they have secured 105 of the 146 municipalities up for grabs, has generated very strong protests by the opposition and denunciation of fraud and irregularities in the conduct of the vote. By protests and accusations, we moved inland, unfortunately, in fact: the marches and demonstrations that took place in the days immediately following the election, in many cases degenerated into incidents of urban warfare between opposing factions, killing two people . Although public accusations and the threat of producing evidence of irregularities occurring during the counting of ballots, the opposition has not been able to produce hard evidence on the matter. Not even the intervention of the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) and the recount of the votes of the capital (seat for which Montealegre appeared as a candidate for mayor) were able to ensure normalization of political and social situation in the country. Validation by the CSE accuracy of results of the first examination (the victory of Montealegre Arguello on the chair of mayor of the capital) has indeed quieted the minds, exacerbating further the tensions between opposing factions . This has also had a direct impact on the work of Parliament, for several months now paralyzed from the boycott deployed by opposition forces calling for the passage of a bill that has the annulment of the elections in November.

The last act of this saga might be called "Even the winners Crying" (from the title of that most famous of the 80s, "Even the rich are crying," the tearful and watchful Veronica Castro) was produced on January 18 last year when they were invited to vote the residents of seven municipalities in the North Atlantic Autonomous Region ( RAAN).

According branched from the Consejo Supremo Electoral (CSE), the FSLN's success confirms the rest of the country in November, winning four of the seven municipalities in the running (Bilwa / Puerto Cabezas, Rosita, Bonanza, Waspán). The Constitutional Liberal Party won in two municipalities (and Siuna Mulukukú), while the indigenous Yatama party has managed to wrest the two main contenders, the municipality of Prinzapolka.

What causes more confusion in this whole story is not so much the clash between the right and the left Montealegre Daniela (deliberately omit the word "Sandinista" considering the current government is completely alien to that culture), but rather its exploitation by external actors.

I refer in particular to statements made by Ambassador Robert Callahan American who announced that the United States, with the ' approval and support of the European Union , freeze for 90 days, $ 175 million Cuenta Reto bottom of the Milenio - used to finance development projects - waiting for the government in power "comes a satisfactory agreement with all Nicaraguans. "Considering the manipulation of information that characterized the coverage of the event by the international press and the endless interference from the U.S. before and after the vote, it seems outrageous that, under a policy that recalls the Cold War years, we still continue to speculate on the skin of the poorest having, moreover, the courage to acknowledge it publicly. an excerpt of the declarations of the U.S. from an article by George Tips:

"[. .] We do not impose or suggest a solution to Nicaragua, because we know that the Nicaraguans are intelligent and able to find it. Despite This [..] would be appropriate for the Government of Nicaragua takes measures to ensure not to fall into the same problems during the next election, such as electoral reform. However, I repeat, do not require specific solutions. But let us be very clear - has continued. As a sovereign country and as a country that is very interested in the development of democracy in the world, the United States may reconsider all the programs that are currently being developed with Nicaragua, with serious consequences for the economy of the country. It could do the same thing the other donor countries .

I wonder - and I ask you - why sovereignty must be recognized always and only for the wealthy and never to the poorest, who should receive more of interference, manipulation, exploitation, often to create art, and foreign actors.

at the expense today, as yesterday, is the poor people whose fate is sacrificed in the name of higher interests .

I would love even just for five minutes be catapulted into a parallel dimension in which a different reality, or rather reverse is possible.

For once, I'd love to see the ambassador of Nicaragua to the press announcing the freezing of 20 billion dollars to finance development projects in favor of poor areas of the United States (the figure is only a strange case of the fantasy equivalent to the U.S. debt - not yet paid - to Nicaragua, established by the ruling of the International Court in The Hague). The reason? The fraud in Florida in 2000!

Dreams .... just dreams ....

TIBER / THE FLOOD TIBER

Tiber flood on 12th December 2008: the water level is very close to the seabream of Ponte Sisto

The recent flood of the Tiber was a true story of great media coverage and the Net have seen so many movies and photos documenting the details of the event. E 'is also well known that, during its long history, the Eternal City has experienced numerous floods. The "old tub", the famous fountain built by Bernini's father at the foot of the steps of Piazza di Spagna, is said to have been placed in memory of a very old tub dragged there by the fury of river. On the walls of the old town are visible small plates that show the level reached by the waters and the years covered in the event. Stop dates to 1870, from which were erected the famous discussed how to contain the river embankments. Ponte Sisto in Rome has always functioned as an alarm to the overflowing of the Tiber. In fact, this bridge has four arches with a large circular hole on the central pier, the ' seabream. The passage of water through the ' seabream was the signal of safe flood the city.

" There would be a revolt of the people once again if you were to give aid to Fiat. We have already paid many times and can not be shared debts and keep the profits .

Unbelievable but true. I never thought I can say in my life, but for the first time I fully agree with a statement of the League's Roberto Calderoli, minister for the simplification legislation.

We are on the usual "Fiat called and the government responds." The excuse is always the same. Whenever it is noted that the automotive company in Turin is an offshoot of the Italian economy, with its crucial 83 000 375 000 Employees and related workers to industries. Hence (we'll know Wednesday after meeting with representatives of the automotive industry) served in the 2009 edition of the scrappage scheme guaranteed by the Government.

All my solidarity with the workers of Fiat, whose fate is certainly in my heart. That said I believe that the government would do a better service to the Italian citizen (including Fiat and then the employee) making bad, rather than placating the symptom. The sharp decline that characterizes today's automotive industry (-13%) believe it is due more to the effects of high oil prices of recent months that the current economic crisis. To this we must add the systematic slow (issimissimo) adjustment of gasoline prices when the cost of a barrel goes down (and also already created the first fans of this club policy). In fact have an impact on consumers' pockets is not so much the purchase of the machine, but rather its maintenance.

If the refining and marketing of oil has its own responsibilities, the Italian State is no exception. The continued use of incentives for scrapping is actually a way to divert attention from the real issue, that taxes (excise duties) state that affect the price of gasoline. 60 - 70% of the cost of a liter of unleaded gasoline is currently made up of excise duties and taxes through which the state for decades replenish its coffers, some of which are truly absurd.

Here are the details:

1.90 pounds for the war in Abyssinia in 1935;

14 lire to the Suez crisis of 1956;

10 lire for disaster Vajont, 1963;

10 pounds for 'Florence flood of 1966;

10 lire to the Belice earthquake of 1968;

99 pounds for the earthquake in Friuli in 1976;

75 pounds for the Irpinia earthquake of 1980;

205 pounds for the mission in Lebanon in 1983;

22 pounds for the mission in Bosnia in 1996;

0.020 € 2004 for contract renewal autoferrotranviari

All for a total of € 0.25 cents of which must be added (so as not to miss anything) also the VAT, the tax on tax!

Certainly the state can not waive such a lot of money, because a cut in this direction would be to take a road without possibility of return (can you imagine the popular uprisings in the case of ritassazione ?!?). The incentive one-off, scrapping fact, it is therefore much cheaper both economically, and from the viewpoint of the image. Consumers appreciate your selflessness!

I leave you with the usual musical suggestion. I think, but I also feel your on, very appropriate ways.
