on January 18 by a vote of the inhabitants of the North Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAN) finally (hopefully) ended the saga of the municipal elections Nicaragua began in November 2008.
For those who missed (many images as the low / no echo that the news had in Italy and Europe) the previous episodes here's a quick summary:
On 9 November, two years after the presidential elections that brought back to power Sandinista Daniel Ortega and the Partido de Liberacion Nacional (FSLN), the Nicaraguan population has been drawn to the polls to express their preference on the government of the 146 municipalities of the country. The elections have determined the absolute victory of the FSLN and the disastrous defeat of the main opposition coalition movement organized around the PLC / VCE (Partido Alianza Liberal Constitucional / Movimiento Vamos with Edward) led by Edward Montealegre. The victory of the Frente overflowing, they have secured 105 of the 146 municipalities up for grabs, has generated very strong protests by the opposition and denunciation of fraud and irregularities in the conduct of the vote. By protests and accusations, we moved inland, unfortunately, in fact: the marches and demonstrations that took place in the days immediately following the election, in many cases degenerated into incidents of urban warfare between opposing factions, killing two people . Although public accusations and the threat of producing evidence of irregularities occurring during the counting of ballots, the opposition has not been able to produce hard evidence on the matter. Not even the intervention of the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) and the recount of the votes of the capital (seat for which Montealegre appeared as a candidate for mayor) were able to ensure normalization of political and social situation in the country. Validation by the CSE accuracy of results of the first examination (the victory of Montealegre Arguello on the chair of mayor of the capital) has indeed quieted the minds, exacerbating further the tensions between opposing factions . This has also had a direct impact on the work of Parliament, for several months now paralyzed from the boycott deployed by opposition forces calling for the passage of a bill that has the annulment of the elections in November.
The last act of this saga might be called "Even the winners Crying" (from the title of that most famous of the 80s, "Even the rich are crying," the tearful and watchful Veronica Castro) was produced on January 18 last year when they were invited to vote the residents of seven municipalities in the North Atlantic Autonomous Region ( RAAN).
According branched from the Consejo Supremo Electoral (CSE), the FSLN's success confirms the rest of the country in November, winning four of the seven municipalities in the running (Bilwa / Puerto Cabezas, Rosita, Bonanza, Waspán). The Constitutional Liberal Party won in two municipalities (and Siuna Mulukukú), while the indigenous Yatama party has managed to wrest the two main contenders, the municipality of Prinzapolka.
What causes more confusion in this whole story is not so much the clash between the right and the left Montealegre Daniela (deliberately omit the word "Sandinista" considering the current government is completely alien to that culture), but rather its exploitation by external actors.

I wonder - and I ask you - why sovereignty must be recognized always and only for the wealthy and never to the poorest, who should receive more of interference, manipulation, exploitation, often to create art, and foreign actors.

I would love even just for five minutes be catapulted into a parallel dimension in which a different reality, or rather reverse is possible.
For once, I'd love to see the ambassador of Nicaragua to the press announcing the freezing of 20 billion dollars to finance development projects in favor of poor areas of the United States (the figure is only a strange case of the fantasy equivalent to the U.S. debt - not yet paid - to Nicaragua, established by the ruling of the International Court in The Hague). The reason? The fraud in Florida in 2000!
